You have noticed changes
You have noticed changes in your memory or thinking, or someone close to you has. There can be many reasons for this, and a memory screening is a clear first step to understanding what is going on.
If you or someone you know is worried about their memory, find out what is going on and what to do next.

A specialist-led service to help you understand what is going on, with clear advice and a plan you can use. We know an assessment is only part of it, so our dementia coordinator team is here for the wider support too.
Memory Screening and Diagnostic Assessment can be booked today. The Alzheimer's test is arranged with you by our team after a short conversation.
Each service ends with a diagnosis and a care plan. Where it helps, that plan can point you towards treatment options and wider support, but the services themselves do not include providing or delivering any treatment.

Pick a service to see what to expect, one clear step at a time.
You complete the questionnaire in your own time. After that, most people have their appointment and video consultation and receive their written report within a few weeks. That is typically 2 to 3 weeks for a screening and 3 to 4 weeks for a full assessment, and we will confirm your own timings when you book.

Choose a clinic appointment at one of our locations, or a home visit anywhere in the UK. We arrange it within a few working days.

A plain-English questionnaire about the changes you have noticed, filled in online whenever suits you. We can talk you through it on the phone, and family can help.

A cognitive test on a tablet, at a clinic or at home, with someone from our team alongside you. About 30 to 40 minutes, no technology of your own needed.

A consultant memory specialist looks at your questionnaire and test results together, then writes a clear letter of findings and recommendations, sharable with your GP.

If your results suggest a closer look, our dementia coordinator talks it through with you, with practical advice and the options for what to do next.
Answer a few short questions and we will suggest the best starting point. It is guidance, not a diagnosis, and your answers are not stored. If you would rather just talk to someone, call us on0800 011 2113.
The cognitive test is the part of Memory Screening (and Diagnostic Assessment) that helps your specialist understand your memory and thinking. We use a certified digital cognitive test from Head Diagnostics, which supports your specialist's assessment.
What you experience. After you book, someone from our team meets you at home or at one of our clinics. They give you a tablet with a digital pencil, explain how it works, and stay with you while you complete it. The test takes around 30 to 40 minutes. You do not need to be confident with technology; we guide you the whole way through.
What happens to the result.Your answers are scored against a large group of people of a similar age, then reviewed by your consultant memory specialist alongside your questionnaire. The test does not diagnose dementia on its own; that decision belongs to your specialist, based on everything together.
The cognitive test is HDx Cognition, a certified digital test provided by our partner, Head Diagnostics.
The care and detail you would expect from a CQC-registered provider, without the jargon.

The same consultant team looks at your results and talks them through with you. Not just a digital report, a real conversation with someone who has seen this before.

You get a written care plan you can act on: what we found, what it means, and what to do next. It is yours to keep, and to share with your GP if you ask.

We know this can be a worrying time. Time with our dementia coordinator team is included as standard with every Diagnostic Assessment and Alzheimer's test, and offered with Memory Screening if results show anything to look at more closely.

Medefer is a CQC-registered provider. We deliver NHS services to NHS partner trusts, and we run this private memory and dementia service alongside that NHS work. The service you book here is private, arranged when and where you need it, and may be covered by insurance depending on your policy.
“As a company focused on dementia, we believe that earlier and more accurate diagnosis is critical so that patients and their families have more time to prepare for the future. We are delighted to support Medefer and Head Diagnostics with grant funding to help make it possible.”
This initiative was supported by a grant from Eisai Ltd. Eisai had no influence or involvement other than the financial support.
