Parkinson's Monitoring and Consultation
For people already diagnosed with Parkinson's. Not a diagnostic assessment service.
Monitoring information from PDMonitor sensors, reviewed by a consultant neurologist, with a video consultation. Available as a one-off review or an ongoing monitoring plan.
Choose how you want to use it
One monitoring period and a video consultation. Best when you have a specific concern, such as starting or adjusting medication, or want a specialist view on how things are going.
Each period is clinically reviewed by a consultant neurologist, with video consultations included periodically. Helps spot changes early and supports discussions with your NHS team.
- 6-month minimum commitment from when your first monitoring period begins.
- After the minimum, cancel with 30 days' written notice.
- Each kit must be returned within 14 days of completing the monitoring period. Unreturned or damaged kits are charged at replacement cost.
- Monitoring periods are scheduled once every 3 months. Unused periods do not carry over.
What you receive every cycle
- Pre-consultation questionnaire about symptoms and medication
- PDMonitor sensors to wear during a normal week at home
- Consultant neurologist review of each monitoring period
- Video consultation to discuss findings and next steps

Built to support you throughout your journey
Wherever you are, waiting, worried, or already diagnosed, our consultant-led service gives you a clearer view and can help you with your next steps.
Get a consultant view sooner
Waiting for an NHS neurology appointment, or unsure how to start? A UK consultant neurologist reviews your symptoms and home monitoring data, then writes a clear report. With your permission, we share the findings with your GP or NHS team so your wait is not wasted time.
Understand what is happening
If you have noticed tremor, stiffness, slowness or balance changes, a consultant uses home monitoring across a normal week to see how your symptoms behave, then explains how the monitoring findings contribute to the overall clinical assessment and what to do next.
Stay on top of your treatment
If you already have a Parkinson's diagnosis, ongoing monitoring shows how your symptoms and medication respond through the day. A consultant supports you with adjustments and works alongside your usual NHS care.
How it works
One simple four-step process for every service. Most of the work happens at home, with the device and the consultant doing the heavy lifting.

Choose the service that fits
Pick the service for your situation and pay securely by card. Takes about two minutes.
1
Complete a specialist questionnaire
A short questionnaire about your symptoms, history, and medication. Online, in your own time.
2
Receive and wear the device
PDMonitor sensors are posted to you with simple instructions and support from our team if you need it. Wear them for a normal week, then return them in prepaid packaging.
3
Consultant review and care plan
A UK consultant neurologist reviews your data and writes your report. You discuss it by video, or in person on the Full Assessment. We can share the findings with your GP if you would like us to.
4Timings depend on when you complete the monitoring and return the kit, but most reports are completed within 3 to 4 weeks, often sooner. On the ongoing monitoring plan, this cycle repeats every three months.
Use our services →See your symptoms as they really are, day after day
A short clinic appointment captures one snapshot. PDMonitor, developed by our partner PD Neurotechnology, uses small sensors worn during a normal week so your consultant has real movement information to review, not just one moment.
Multiple sensors worn on wrists, ankles and waist
Sensors on different parts of the body capture upper and lower body movement, not just one wrist.
Worn during a normal week at home
You wear the sensors as you go about your daily life. Your specialist sees how your symptoms vary day to day, not just on the day of a clinic visit.
Easy to set up, fully supported
The kit arrives with clear, plain-English instructions. It needs only a mains socket and an internet connection, by Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. Our support team arranges a phone or video call to guide you through setup and answer any questions.
Supports consultant review of movement and symptom variation
The monitoring information is interpreted by a consultant neurologist alongside your history and examination. It supports the clinical decision, it does not replace it.
A consultant-led service, using technology to understand your symptoms
After your monitoring period, a UK consultant neurologist reviews your data and writes a clear report. You get a plain-English summary, treatment guidance, and a written report you can share with your GP if you would like to.
What your consultant sees: movement and symptom data across your weekYour data, supporting clinical decisions
The PDMonitor sensors record how your movement and symptoms vary across a normal week. A UK consultant neurologist reviews that data alongside your history and questionnaire, then writes a clear report with their view and what to do next.
You receive:
Reviewed by a consultant neurologist
Every report on our Parkinson's service is reviewed by a UK consultant neurologist on Medefer's clinical team. Led by Dr Jonathan Kennedy, Medefer’s Neurology Lead. Trusted by over 170,000 patients across our specialist services.
How we allocate your specialist
Your case is reviewed by a consultant neurologist on our UK clinical team. We will confirm your named clinician before your appointment.
- All consultants are GMC-registered, most holding current NHS roles.
- Your case is allocated to the most appropriate specialist for your situation.
- Every report is reviewed by a consultant before it reaches you.
- Clinical governance led by Medefer's Neurology Lead.
When this service can help most
A standard clinic appointment relies on what happens in the room and what you can remember to describe. A week of home monitoring gives your consultant objective movement information to consider alongside your history and examination. People in these situations often gain the most.
A fuller picture than memory alone
Many people find it difficult to recall exactly how symptoms behaved across a week. Monitoring captures that variation objectively, so your consultant is not relying on memory alone.
Understand treatment response
Monitoring shows how symptoms respond to treatment through the day, including wearing-off between doses, which helps your consultant advise on adjustments.
Track changes over time
If you are already diagnosed, periodic monitoring provides an objective record over time that supports discussions with your own NHS team.
In every case, the monitoring findings contribute to your consultant's overall clinical assessment. They inform clinical decisions and do not replace them.

Your answers stay on this page. We do not capture them. Are you aged 18 or over?
Why we ask. This service is for adults. If you are under 18, the right next step is to speak to your GP.
Have your symptoms come on suddenly or are they severe?
Why we ask. Sudden or severe symptoms can have other causes and need urgent attention. This service is for non-emergency assessment of long-standing symptoms.
Are you looking for an assessment, or do you already have a diagnosis?
Which of these are you experiencing?
Why we ask. Select all that apply. Parkinson's typically presents with a combination of these changes.
How long have the changes been present?
Have you spoken to your GP or been referred to a specialist?
Good to know. You do not need a GP referral. If you would like us to, we can send a letter to your GP so your care stays joined up.
What best describes your current situation?
Why we ask. This tells us whether a one-off review or ongoing monitoring is the better fit.

Sudden or severe symptoms can have causes that need urgent assessment. This service is for non-emergency review of long-standing symptoms, so it is not the right route right now.
Speak to your GP first
Symptoms can have many causes. We recommend starting with your GP, then coming back to us if a Parkinson's assessment is suggested.
At-Home Assessment
A specialist review without travelling. A consultant neurologist reviews your home monitoring data, then discusses their view with you by video call.
Full Assessment
A long history of symptoms benefits most from an in-person consultation. Home monitoring plus a clinic visit in London or Manchester.
Monitoring and Consultation — Single Review
A monitoring period reviewed by a consultant neurologist, with a video consultation to discuss the findings.
Monitoring Plan
Ongoing visibility of how your condition and treatment are tracking, with a fresh PDMonitor kit every three months.
A device is only as useful as the clinical service around it.
PDMonitor is one of five devices conditionally recommended by NICE HTG657 (formerly DG51) as an option for remote Parkinson's monitoring. That recognition is for the device. The clinical value comes from how the data is used. That is why every monitoring period in our service is reviewed by a UK consultant neurologist.

The two Assessment services are for people who do not yet have a diagnosis.
At-Home Assessment (£949): clinical questionnaire, home monitoring, specialist review, and video consultation. Available anywhere in the UK.
Full Assessment (£1,249): includes home monitoring plus an in-person consultation at our London or Manchester clinic. A consultant diagnosis may be given where clinically appropriate.
The Parkinson’s Monitoring and Consultation service is for people who have already been diagnosed. Single review (£949) or ongoing monitoring plan (£249 per month, 6-month minimum).
PDMonitor requires:
- A standard mains power outlet.
- An internet connection, either via an Ethernet cable (plug-and-play, with no configuration required) or via Wi-Fi.
If you choose Wi-Fi, you will need a smartphone (Android or iPhone) to connect the device using the free PDMonitor app.
The setup process is simple and is explained step by step in the user manual provided with the device. To make sure everything is ready for your monitoring period, a member of our support team will arrange a phone call or video consultation with you. During this session, we will guide you through the setup if needed, answer any questions, and explain how to use the device throughout your monitoring period.
Yes. Many people use our service while they are on an NHS waiting list. You receive a written report you can share with your GP or NHS team if you would like to, so your care stays joined up.
This is a self-pay service. It does not replace emergency or NHS care.
No. PDMonitor does not diagnose Parkinson’s on its own. It provides monitoring information that supports a consultant neurologist’s clinical assessment.
A diagnosis is a clinical decision made by your consultant, based on the monitoring data alongside your history and examination.
Medefer is recognised by a number of private medical insurers. Cover depends on your policy and usually requires authorisation from your insurer before booking.
Please check with your insurer first. Our team can provide information to support this.
The kit contains small sensors that you wear on your wrists, ankles, and waist during your normal routine for about a week. Nothing uncomfortable, and our team supports you through setup. When the week is over, you return the sensors in the prepaid envelope provided.
You receive a secure link for the appointment, which opens on a phone, tablet, or computer. The consultation usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes. Your consultant walks you through the findings, answers your questions, and explains what they mean for you. A family member or carer is welcome to join.
If you are self-paying, no GP referral is needed. You can book directly.
If you are using private health insurance, you will usually need a GP referral and authorisation from your insurer first. Coverage varies by policy.
Most patients receive their written report within 3 to 4 weeks of booking. The monitoring kit usually arrives within a few days, you wear it for about a week, and your consultation is typically booked within a fortnight after the kit is returned.
That is also a useful outcome. Your written report will explain what your consultant saw, what they think is more likely, and what to do next. That may include suggesting other tests, returning to your GP for a different referral, or simply reassurance.
Yes. A family member or carer is welcome to join you at every appointment, in person or by video, and can help with the practical side of booking by phone or email. If you would like, we can also send them a copy of your written report.
The monitoring plan is for people who have been diagnosed and want regular check-ins. It costs £249 per month, with a 6-month minimum.
Every 3 months we post a fresh PDMonitor kit. You wear it for around a week, return it in prepaid packaging, and your results are reviewed by a consultant neurologist. Video consultations are included periodically.
After the minimum 6 months, you can cancel with 30 days’ written notice. Unused monitoring periods do not carry over.
PDMonitor is one of five devices conditionally recommended by NICE HTG657, formerly DG51, as an option for remote monitoring of Parkinson’s disease to inform treatment while further evidence is generated.
Every assessment in our service is reviewed by a consultant neurologist who uses the monitoring data alongside your clinical history. The device data does not replace clinical judgement.
Often, yes. Your consultant can reach a view from the monitoring data, your history and the video consultation. It is not always possible remotely. If an examination would help, they will recommend the Full Assessment and your results carry forward.
